For this edition of FanArt Friday, Pokémon Blog is delighted to display the
beautiful art of the incredibly talented Pokkiu (Pokkiu_Art).
Our featured artist has always enjoyed drawing. It was his hobby as a child and his best subject in school.
“After many years of drawing, I now understand that art is also a way to convey emotions, and there’s magic in transforming those emotions into a visual medium,” he shared with the Pokémon Blog Team. “I believe that art, for me, is a way of seeing and interpreting the world. I apply this to my work, my products, and the content I create.”
Pokkiu’s interest in the Pokémon franchise started with the games.
“I always liked the multitude of possibilities when it came to creating your own Pokémon team,” he said. “And I think, without knowing it from a very young age, I appreciated that ‘something’ that the games had. Now I realize that ‘something’ was always the experience… which is made up of the music, the art direction, the design, and the storytelling, mainly. I conclude that, for me, Pokémon means a nice experience to remember.”
For Pokkiu, illustrating Pokémon has been highly entertaining and fun: “When I’m creating Pokémon art, I like to reflect my point of view on the scenes I watched from the video games or the anime. I think this approach has connected very well with my audience because we share a similar vision of those moments. Thanks to this, I’ve been able to transform art into products and content that people can appreciate, which in turn nourishes my work.”
He’s a lover of rodents, so he’s a fan of Pikachu and his look-alikes in every generation, but Pachirisu holds the honor of being his favorite Pokémon.
“I’ve always liked squirrels,” he concluded.
