For this edition of FanArt Friday, Pokémon Blog is beyond delighted to showcase the incredible art of the gifted Alejandro (DarkChilean). This Chilean artist has participated in multiple Pokémon-related projects, including the six generations of Pokédex Ilustrada, organized by our dear friends from Ilustradoras Unidas.
Art means a lot to Alejandro, as it has ignited a passion that gently whispers to him to let things flow.
“In the beginning, art just seemed like something fun. I still remember a period in my life when I was avoiding emotions, but art remained with me, keeping me company. Art is the most loyal companion I’ve ever had, whether through music or in drawings. No matter what happens, I always come back to drawing, listening to music, or even playing an instrument! And during hard times, I let things flow, and everything becomes simpler,” he explained to the Pokémon Blog Team.
Alejandro has a long-standing relationship with Pokémon.
He has known the games since childhood and had the joy of growing up with them from the third generation onward.
“Pokémon is a franchise that awakens the adventurous spirit of everyone—unveiling mysteries, solving conflicts, and, most importantly, doing it alongside friends,” he shared. “For me, the franchise represents resilience, to never give up, to give our best, to analyze all possible options to reach our goals, and once achieved, to keep going with the desire to improve and become the very best.”
Creating Pokémon art is a mix of sensations for Alejandro—it brings warm, joyful feelings, fills him with excitement, and even a bit of anxious anticipation to see the final results.
“It makes me very happy because I do it while I’m live on Twitch, which allows me to share my passion for Pokémon and art with others. I’ve met many people who have supported me, and that’s priceless. Having people like that motivates me to keep going and never give up. I think it’s something I’ll never get tired of.”
His favorite Pokémon is Torchic.
“I love this Pokémon because he was one of the first I ever played with. It was also one of the first times I chose the Fire-type over a Water-type (and I love Water-type Pokémon!). He was the exception. I was really surprised by the fact that he’s a small, cute chick. I related to him since I was always the smallest in both height and age in my group of friends. His constant training, reflected in his evolutions, represents how hard Torchic works not to be left behind. He has a great personality, and I really like that,” he concluded.
