For this edition of FanArt Friday, Pokémon Blog is beyond delighted to display the extraordinary art of the very talented Ricardo, also known as Buho_Estudio. He has participated in multiple generations of Pokédex Ilustrada, as well as in other Pokémon-related ventures, such as “Pokémon Fan: Dibuja Tu Equipo Soñado,” a special project created to celebrate the “First Anniversary of FanArt Friday.” Both projects were led by the dream team at Ilustradoras Unidas.
Art is everything to Ricardo. He lives to create, learn new things, improve his technique, and explore new styles.
“Drawing is how I express myself best, and it’s how I share my emotions with others. I love art, and I enjoy seeing other people’s work and learning from them,” he shared.
The franchise is a staple in his life and a very special part of who he is.
“Pokémon is something that has always been a part of my life, accompanying me. I used to watch the anime series after school and collect Pogs when I was a kid. I also remember the first time I ever played the games: a friend invited me to his house to play Pokémon Emerald. My first starter was Treecko, and since that moment, I’ve tended to pick the Grass-type starter.”
For Ricardo, creating Pokémon-related art is a beautiful experience.
“I love the feeling of being able to bring to life the images I imagined when I played Pokémon—all those epic battles against trainers and leaders, and majestic encounters with the Legendaries. I also enjoy creating scenarios that show how the Pokémon live and interact with the world,” he explained to the Pokémon Blog Team.
Ricardo’s favorite Pokémon is Rowlet.
He’s a massive fan of owls, so he can’t help but love Rowlet’s design and charismatic personality.
“He’s very memeable, especially his expressions,” he noted.
Garbodor is another Pokémon he holds dear: “He was the reason I wanted to play Pokémon Black and White. I don’t know what it is about that pile of junk, but I liked him from the first moment I saw him, and I wanted him on my team.”
