For this edition of FanArt Friday, Pokémon Blog is honored to display the extraordinary artworks of Rob (rob_sanarts). This talented graphic designer has participated in the sixth generation of Pokédex Ilustrada, the spectacular project led by the dream team at Ilustradoras Unidas.
Rob credits art as the guiding force in his life. He believes that staying true to his development as an artist has been pivotal.
“I’ve been drawing and improving for as long as I can remember. Thanks to this, I had the opportunity to learn digital art, which is currently my favorite way to illustrate. Over time, and despite certain difficulties in life, it has always been satisfying to finish a good illustration and share it with confidence.”
One of the greatest contributors to his development as an artist was the Pokémon franchise (along with other anime series and franchises), which provided support and inspiration. He used it as a basis to try new things in his drawings and to channel the excitement he felt as a child onto paper, attempting to capture either the intensity of those iconic battles or the majestic nature of the Legendary Pokémon he encountered.
Combining his passion for art with his love for Pokémon has allowed him to recapture the feelings he experienced as a child—a tribute to the simple act of being amazed without worrying about anything else, even if only for a moment.
“In the case of art, you can also share and evoke those same feelings in the audience,” he shared with the Pokémon Blog Team.
Rob’s favorite Pokémon is none other than Garchomp.
“My favorite type is the Dragon type, and I also have so many fond memories of this Pokémon when he first appeared in Japan. I remember stumbling upon him by chance on the internet and, since then, he has been my favorite Pokémon,” he concluded.
