Pokémon POKÉTOON short featuring Wartortle premieres today, August 12

A new Pokémon POKÉTOON animated short, “Wartortle and the Rest of Summer,” is set to premiere on Aug. 12, telling a nostalgic story about a boy named Rikut who visits his grandmother’s island at the end of summer and encounters an unusually long-lived Wartortle. The Pokémon has moss growing on its shell and a tail whose color differs from the one shown in the Pokédex, leading Rikut to discover that it was once a companion of his father when he was a child 30 years earlier. The short follows Rikut, Wartortle and several wild Pokémon as they spend a summer day playing in the water, with Japanese voice performances from Ayaka Senbongi as Rikut, Yū Hatano as Gaku, Akiko Hiramatsu as Shuri and Kana Hanazawa as Wartortle. “Wartortle and the Rest of Summer” is directed by Seigo Yamashita and produced by Studio Chromato and Studio Colorido.
