Unshō Ishizuka, the Japanese voice actor behind Professor Oak and the narrator for the original Pokémon anime, is no longer with us. Ishizuka-san passed away on August 13, 2018, at the age of 68 due to esophagus cancer. He had been under medical care, but the treatment he received had proven to be ineffective.
