Maybe? Plus that episode where Pikachu meets his own kind and Ash has to decide if he should stay or if he goes? It was the saddest ish in the history of the Pokemon anime.
Of course? We all know what happened next in 20 years? LOL
Just like how May’s Bulbasaur is tiny and female vs her male counterpart? (Although that’s mostly due to how long Bulbasaur has been in the wild long before Ash caught him too.) I think age has to be in a factor when it comes to how long Pokemon can live for so long?
I could ask Gamefreak about that question? Plus where is there a Pink Butterfree if there’s an episode where all Pokemon (Even the male Nidoking.) ate some pink berries? lol

That episode with Pikachu is one of the most heartwarming ones ❤ still gives me goosebumps when Pikachu chooses to remain with Ash :’)
Interesting theory! And how about that aging Treecko in the episode where Ash catches his Treecko? Guess it shows that even wild Pokemon have the option of not evolving if they don't want to 😀
