Pokemon GO players have walked 4.6 billion kilometers

Since its debut in July, Pokemon GO players have collectively walked about 4.6 billion kilometers. That’s approximately equivalent to the distance between Earth and Pluto. The popular mobile game has also been downloaded more than 500 million times across the world. “What these numbers really show are the power of an emerging genre of new games we call ‘real world games’ and the appeal, of course, of the beloved Pokémon universe,” Niantic said in a statement. “Today the game is played in more than 100 countries and we are working hard to bring the game to many more.”
