Since launching with Pokemon Red and Blue back in 1996, all Pokémon-related software has sold more than 280 million units worldwide as of May 2016. This already-impressive figure will increase even further when Pokemon Sun and Moon are taken into account, which have sold more than 3.7 million units in less than two weeks. Other notable launches in the Pokémon series include Pokémon X and Y – with 15.64 million games sold globally – and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, with 13.18 million games sold worldwide.
