Akin to how the Water-type Pokémon Mudkip, Piplup and Oshawott were the most popular starters of Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova, respectively, Froakie was favored over Fennekin and Chespin in the Kalos region. An official poll conducted by The Pokémon Company has found that 49 percent of Pokémon X and Y players chose Froakie as their starter. Fennekin comes in second with 32 percent of the votes, followed by Chespin with the remaining 19 percent.
