Game Freak is primarily known as the developer behind the core Pokémon games. However, the studio wants to be known for more than that. Game Freak director Masayuki Onoue expressed this sentiment during a recent interview:
Are you trying to make sure people know Game Freak as a company not just for Pokémon, but as a game company?

That will never happen in my opinion. Pokemon is one of the biggest shows and games in history. I do understand why they want that, but they will always be known for Pokemon.
