Pokémon GO has helped sales of past Pokémon games

Nintendo has confirmed that there is a direct correlation between sales of core Pokémon games on Nintendo handhelds and Pokémon GO. According to the company, the immensely-popular mobile app has helped sales of past Pokémon games, including titles that were re-released via the Virtual Console service on Nintendo 3DS. This includes Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow.

On 3DS, Mario Maker and Kirby were well-received. Pokemon Go has helped sales of past Pokemon games; hardware sales up outside Japan.
