Justice Smith has been confirmed to star in the first-ever live-action Pokémon film titled Detective Pikachu. Smith is known for his work in the Netflix musical drama series The Get Down. Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson were previously rumored to be among Legendary Pictures’ top choices to voice the titular character in Detective Pikachu. Set to start filming in London early next year, the upcoming Pokémon movie is being helmed by Goosebumps director Rob Letterman is heading the project, working from a script written by Nicole Perlman (Captain Marvel) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls).
