Famitsu has revealed that the Japanese domestic game market is up 121.8 percent (totaling ¥3878.1 billion, or $36.45 billion) in FY2017 (March 27, 2017, to March 25, 2018), largely due to the success of Nintendo Switch console, which was the leading hardware for the year selling 3,512,773 units.
Hardware was up 152.7 percent overall although software saw little increase at 100.1 percent compared to 2016. 2017 did see seven million sellers, however, compared to just four in 2016 with Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon the best-selling title overall. A list of the top selling software is as follows:
