Pokémon GO second anniversary event featuring summer style Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu in sunglasses concludes worldwide

Last month, Niantic kicked off its Pikachu-themed celebration for Pokémon GO’s second anniversary, which included the unique Summer Style Pikachu and the Mythical Pokémon Celebi. Pikachu and Pichu appeared more frequently from July 6 until July 31 at 1 p.m. PDT. A special Summer Style Pikachu, that’s decked out in an Alolan straw hat and sunglasses, was available to be found and caught in the wild. Pichu and Raichu were also given the same treatment. The Shiny variants of all three also made their Pokémon GO debuts. Pikachu Fan Avatar items are now available for purchase via the in-game shop. Trainers with a gold Pikachu Fan medal can purchase all related items, which include a special T-shirt for 250 PokéCoins and Pikachu ears for 180 PokéCoins.

The Pokémon Company initially said that increased storage capacity was made available via the in-game shop, allowing you to hold up to 2,000 Pokémon, but this mention has since been removed from the official site – so stay tuned for any further updates. In addition, Special Research on the Mythical Pokémon Celebi will be available globally in the near future. A second Anniversary Box was made available to purchase for 480 PokéCoins. It included two Super Incubators, two Premium Raid Passes and 30 Ultra Balls. Players were also able to purchase 100 Poké Balls for 300 PokéCoins instead of 460 PokéCoins. Pichu and Shiny Pichu were also hatching from Eggs more often. Trainers also had a chance at hatching Summer Style Pichu and/or Shiny Summer Style Pichu.
