The Wii Shop Channel is officially closing for good in 2019 and users are no longer able to add points to the digital store. As of March 26, 2018, it is no longer possible to add points to the Wii Shop Channel using either a credit card or Nintendo Points Card. Any points added before that date can be used to purchase content on the Wii Shop Channel until January 30, 2019. From February 2019 to August 31, 2019, Wii owners in Japan who had a remaining balance will be able to receive a refund after filling out an online form. Points can be exchanged toward credit for the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Nintendo has yet to announce a similar scheme for Western territories, but stay tuned for any updates.
