Pokémon GO developer Niantic is reportedly working with Samsung to create exclusive games

Samsung is reportedly planning to invest $40 million in Pokémon GO developer Niantic in a deal that will see the two firms collaborate on “exclusive” games. The firms’ main focus will apparently be a Harry Potter game that may or may not be Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The deal is also said to include Ingress, though Pokémon GO may be excluded. “Niantic is hesitant to co-work on Pokémon Go, since they are super protective of that franchise,” said a source familiar with Samsung’s plans. “After a lot of haggling, and pushing, Niantic refused to make the features without a large investment from Samsung, and the number they arrived at was $40m.” Both Samsung and Niantic haven’t responded to this report, but stay tuned for any updates.
