Japanese publication Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun recently interviewed Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa about Nintendo Switch performance. Furukawa revealed that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sales passed five million globally in its first week of being on sale. He also said the Switch is the home console seeing the fastest software sales so far in Nintendo’s history. He continued to say Switch software sales started picking up steam in mid-November, thanks to Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee. Furukawa also mentioned how the Switch is currently offered in 60 countries. In addition, he reconfirmed that Nintendo sees smartphone gaming as a pillar of earnings. He wants to land smartphone hits and publish multiple apps across multiple fields.
