Pokémon Sword and Shield will reportedly introduce a new mechanic in the form of Armored Evolutions. According to a supposed leak that first appeared on 4chan, The upcoming duo of Pokémon games will feature Armored Evolutions of various Pokémon that already exist from previous generations, such as Charizard, Mewtwo, Flygon and Zeraora. It’s currently unclear as to what Armored Evolutions are exactly, but many fans are suggesting that it could be similar to the Mega Evolution feature. Meanwhile, in Japan, Nintendo and Game Freak have officially trademarked the term Armored Mewtwo, which may very well be related to the aforementioned report.
