Even More Exciting Pokémon News

I swear, not a day goes by where there isn’t some awesome Pokémon news coming out.

Hey, that just means I get more to write about, so no complaints here! Whether you’re looking for the best new cards to add to your TCG deck or the next chance to show the world your battling skills, there’s bound to be some great news for you this summer.

  1. Katy Perry’s Official Electric Music Video

As you probably know by now, Pokémon is celebrating their 25th anniversary this year. As part of the festivities, they’ve partnered with various artists to connect with fans around the world on an even greater level. So far these have included Post Malone, Katy Perry, J Balvin, and a mystery artist they haven’t revealed yet.

Personally, I’m hoping it’s Ariana Grande, but maybe I’m reading too deep into her Eevee tattoo.

Katy Perry’s contribution to the hype so far has been her latest single, Electric, and if you haven’t checked it out by now, it absolutely slaps. On June 14, Pokemon’s official YouTube channel uploaded a lyric video to the song, so if you’re looking for your next go-to Karaoke song, make sure to check it out.

2. Shadow Ho-Oh Appears in Pokémon Go!

So, a few posts back I stressed the urgency of stopping Giovanni from getting more legendary Pokémon. Apparently, that wasn’t enough, because now he has the strongest legendary bird out there (sorry, Lugia. Talk to me when you literally bring Pokémon back to life).

From June 17 to September 1, the boss of Team Rocket himself will add shadow Ho-Oh to his ranks of rare, powerful Pokémon. Trainers who complete the Team Go Rocket special research mission, A Seven-Colored Shadow, will get a Super Rocket Radar that they can use to find Giovanni and save Ho-Oh.

3. Lt. Surge and Karen Coming to Pokémon Masters EX

The Daily Region Rotation in Pokémon Masters EX is still going strong, and in addition to regional opponents we haven’t seen in a while, like Erica and Morty, Lt. Surge and Karen have been added to the roster.

It just occurred to me there may be readers out there who are too young to know who Karen is. Wow, I feel old, but she’s the final member of the Elite Four in the Johto games, and she was the first dark type master fans ever faced.

Lt. Surge will be joining with his unique Raichu as his sync pair, while Karen’s will be her Umbreon.

The Daily Region Rotation event is runs until June 29, so make sure you join in on the fun while you still can!

4. It’s Not Too late to Register for The Fair and Square Competition!

For all you battlers out there, you still have until June 17 to register for the Fair and Square competition for Pokémon Sword and Shield!

All participants will get 50 battle points just for registering, so even if you don’t have a master team yet, you should at least give it a shot. Just make sure to check out the list of banned Pokémon first, since there are some surprises in there.

This single battles tournament will be running from June 17 to June 20, so if you think you got what it takes, then get your team on that two-day training regiment! I’m looking forward to seeing what you all can do.

5. Evolving Skies Sword and Shield Expansion on Its Way!

All you eeveelution fans out there are going to love this.

Make sure to keep your eyes out for the Evolving Skies TCG expansion when it hits the shelves on August 24, and yes, you can expect Eevee and all its kin to be featured heavily.  Each of the evolutions will appear as a Pokémon V and as a Pokémon VMAX, making these appearances some of the most powerful ones that we’ve seen for the eeveelutions in TCG.

As for me, I’m most excited for Rayquaza’s feature in this expansion. His art on the pack alone looks outstanding.
