Five Things to Have on Your Poké Radar in June

Ah, June.

No more school, trips to the beach, and here at Pokémon, A LOT of great news! Whether you’re a Pokémon Go fan, a Switch Player, a TCG enthusiast, or all of the above, June has plenty of fun updates for everyone. Here are some of the most exciting things to keep your eye out for as May comes to a close and summer begins!

Giovanni’s Back with Shadow Zapdos in Pokémon Go

How does this dastardly dude keep getting his hands on these legendary Pokémon?? Somebody has to put a stop to this (not me though, I got a lot on my plate)!

From June 1 to June 17, Giovanni will add Shadow Zapdos to his collection of rare, powerful Pokémon. That means it’s up to you to defeat the Rocket boss himself, capture Zapdos, and purify it.

Think you’re up to the task? Make sure to bring plenty of rock and ice types, that legendary bird is sure to put up a fight!

Deerling’s Ready for Summer!

Summer is right around the corner, which means Deerling, the season Pokémon, will be sporting its brand-new look in Pokémon Go for June, July, and August!

Gigantamax Bulbasaur and Squirtle Mystery Gift

Along with a couple updates to Pokémon Home, Sword and Shield players will be able to receive a special Bulbasaur and Squirtle, who are ready to gigantamax upon evolving into Venusaur and Blastoise. This way, players will now have access to all three of the Kanto starter Pokémon without trading or transferring from older games.

I don’t know about you, but this is amazing news for me at least, since Bulbasaur has always been my favorite starter Pokemon (sorry Charizard fans).

Gible Community Day in Pokémon Go

So, what is a land shark, exactly? Super unclear, and I’ve been trying to figure that out for about 15 years now (these are the questions that keep me up at night).

What is clear though, is Gible Community Day is coming to Pokemon Go on June 6, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Gible will have a much higher spawn rate, and players will receive x3 catch XP.

Evolving Gabite during this event will also get you a Garchomp with Earth Power, so make sure to get out there and catch/evolve plenty of your favorite cave dwelling dragon…shark…thing.

Make sure to stay tuned for tickets to the “Just a Nibble” Special Research story too!

New Sword and Shield TCG Set: Chilling Reign

For all my fellow TCG fans out there, this is some news you do not want to miss!

June 18 marks the release date for the sixth set of the Pokemon Sun and Moon series, Chilling Reign. This latest installment in TCG will be themed around The Crown Tundra expansion, and yes, you can expect Calyrex to be a main feature.

Don’t want to wait until June 18 to get your hands on the icy king of Galar? You may be in luck, as this set will be dropping at select retailers as early as June 5. Make sure to check out the handy store locator on Pokemon.com to see!
