First Chapter of the Villain Arc featuring Red and Team Rocket Added to Main Story Mode in Pokémon Masters EX

TOKYO—September 30, 2021— DeNA Co., Ltd., in partnership with The Pokémon Company, has announced that a new story arc titled the Villain Arc has been added to the Main Story mode of Pokémon Masters EX. The first chapter of the Villain Arc is called “Kanto” and follows the disappearance of Red and the shenanigans of the notorious Team Rocket on the island of Pasio. Players will search for Red and learn about Team Rocket’s goals. Additional Villain Arc chapters featuring the schemes of other infamous organizations in the Pokémon world will be added to the Main Story in the future.

A new trailer that highlights the Kanto Chapter of the Villain Arc can be found here on the official Pokémon Masters EX YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUFat4F6XVg

Players can experience the Villain Arc without having to complete the Pokémon Masters League story arc, which contains 30 chapters and culminates in the player’s Main Character facing off against the formidable team of Red & Charizard, Blue & Blastoise, and Leaf & Venusaur in the Pokémon Masters League Finals.

The overall story of Pokémon Masters EX takes place on the island of Pasio, where the rules of battle are different and the treasured bond between Trainer and Pokémon is taken to the next level with the concept of “sync pairs”. The narrative components of the Main Story can be played in single player mode while some Main Story-specific battles can be played in co-op mode.

DeNA also announced that the following content updates are now available in Pokémon Masters EX:

Power-Up to Mega Mewtwo Y: In the Villain Event: Spreading Shadows, players can battle to earn and redeem items to upgrade the sync pair of Giovanni & Mewtwo such that Mewtwo can mega-evolve into Mega Mewtwo Y after using a sync move. In its Mega Mewtwo Y state, this sync pair has increased stats and new moves like the powerful psychic attack Psystrike. Players that don’t already have Giovanni & Mewtwo on their teams can add them by completing the Lurking Shadow Legendary Event. Both events are available from now until October 15 at 10:59 p.m. Pacific Time for players who have completed Chapter 1 of the Main Story.

Sygna Suit Misty & Vaporeon Now Available: This Water-type sync pair can nullify both stat decreases to your team and stat increases to your opponents with moves like Mist and Haze. Furthermore, successfully executing these moves will re-charge the move gauge by four bars thanks to this sync pair’s complementary passive skills. This sync pair can reach a 6★EX Potential rating, which increases the strength of their sync moves and provides them with an additional optional outfit to wear. Sygna Suit Misty & Vaporeon can be added to players’ teams via the Sygna Suit Misty Spotlight Scout, available from now until October 15 at 10:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

Sygna Suit Erika & Leafeon Coming Soon: This Grass-type sync pair can make the weather on the battlefield bright and sunny with the move Sunny Day, which benefits some of its abilities. For example, the powerful attack Solar Blade typically requires a charge-up period but can attack instantly when the weather is sunny. This sync pair can also reach a 6★EX Potential rating. Sygna Suit Erika & Leafeon can be added to players’ teams via the Sygna Suit Erika Spotlight Scout, available from September 30 at 11:00 p.m. Pacific Time until October 15 at 10:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

Earn 1,000 Gems: As part of the Villain Event: Spreading Shadows event, players that log-in to the game daily from now until October 16 at 10:59 p.m. Pacific Time can receive up to 60 skip tickets and 1,000 Gems, enough to add up to three sync pairs to their teams.

Players can check the in-game menus for more information. Note that in-game event dates are subject to change without notice.
