It’s time to celebrate Pokémon Day by catching Pokémon that resemble Poké Balls! Until Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 23:59 UTC, mass outbreaks of Voltorb and Foongus will be appearing throughout the Paldea region.

Shiny Voltorb and Shiny Foongus are more likely to appear in these special mass outbreaks, and lucky Trainers might even encounter a mystery Pokémon. This mystery Pokémon—which also resembles a Poké Ball—cannot normally be encountered in Paldea, so stay on the ball as you search for one!

What Is a Mass Outbreak?

Mass outbreaks are a phenomenon in which many of the same species of Pokémon appear in one location. During limited-time mass outbreak events, certain Pokémon will become more likely to appear.

Information about Mass Outbreak Events

• In order to participate in limited-time mass outbreak events, you need to have downloaded the latest update data and the latest Poké Portal News. You do not need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to receive the latest Poké Portal News.
• You can download the latest Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News.

Get ready for Pokémon Day as Voltorb and Foongus roll into Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. From Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. PST to Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 3:59 p.m. PST, these Poké Ball-like Pokémon will be appearing in mass outbreaks throughout the Paldea region. Shiny Voltorb and Shiny Foongus are more likely to appear in these special mass outbreaks, so don’t miss your chance to find one! And be sure to stay on the ball—a certain mystery Pokémon that can’t normally be encountered in Paldea might be around these mass outbreaks as well.
