FanArt Friday: An Electrifying Love For Expressive Pokémon

For this edition of FanArt Friday, Pokémon Blog is beyond honored to display the extraordinary art of the very talented Lucy, also known by her pseudonym Achy. Not only did she participate in every single generation of Pokédex Ilustrada, but she is also one of the organizers of this beautiful project led by Ilustradoras Unidas.

For Lucy, art is how she shares her tastes, ideas, and feelings.

“When I speak, I have trouble conveying a clear idea— I can’t explain things properly and tend to lower my voice due to my shyness. But with art, I usually express myself better. Plus, it’s easier for me to share these ideas and projects with the public, even when it’s something made for laughs, and I’m just playing with my drawings. This was one of the main reasons I studied Digital Animation and Illustration: I like to share all my projects with people and, of course, my interests when it comes to fan art,” she said to the Pokémon Blog Team.

The cutest eyes you’ve ever seen!🥹

Speaking of fan art, Lucy noted that creating Pokémon-related illustrations is a fantastic experience.

“As I mentioned before, I enjoy art because it’s a way for me to express myself, and since I was a child, I’ve practiced drawing Pokémon. It’s always comforting to draw things related to this franchise, as well as others I’m a fan of. They’re also a great source of inspiration due to their incredible stories.”

Her relationship with Pokémon has endured since childhood.

She has plenty of memories of watching the anime from its first season, playing the games, and collecting and trading cards with her friends.

“It has been one of the main franchises that has motivated me to pursue the career I’m currently studying. I’ve always loved it, and it’s always on my mind,” she explained.

What a beautiful depiction of Celebi! 🪷 I’m in awe of Lucy’s ability to seamlessly illustrate the magnificence of nature! 🥰

Lucy’s favorite Pokémon is none other than the adorable Mew: “I’ve always found him very cute and mysterious. Besides, one of my favorite types is Psychic (along with Fire and Electric). I’ve loved Mew ever since I watched the ‘Mewtwo Strikes Back‘ movie. It was one of the first movies I saw, and I loved the Pokémon that appeared in it. Maybe that’s why I enjoy drawing very expressive Pokémon.”
