The Pokémon Company has continued its yearlong 30th anniversary celebration with a new “Remember the Region” feature spotlighting Unova, revisiting the setting introduced in Pokémon Black and Pokémon White. The retrospective highlights the region’s memorable locations including Castelia City, Nimbasa City, the Battle Subway and the Rondez-View Ferris Wheel while reflecting on iconic characters such as N, Ghetsis and Gym Leader Elesa. It also celebrates Unova’s distinctive 156-Pokémon Pokédex, the first in the series to feature only newly introduced species since Kanto, along with gameplay innovations like the seasonal system that changed environments, wild Pokémon encounters and Deerling and Sawsbuck’s seasonal forms. The feature also looks back at Unova’s lasting impact across games, the Pokémon anime, the Pokémon Trading Card Game and other media as part of Pokémon.com’s ongoing retrospective series before teasing that the next regional spotlight will focus on Kalos.
