Pokémon is continuing its 30th anniversary celebration with a new Remember the Region spotlight focused on Kalos, revisiting memorable locations and moments from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y across the games, anime, manga and Pokémon TCG. The feature highlights Vaniville Town, Laverre City, the Tower of Mastery, Prism Tower and the Battle Chateau, while looking back at Kalos’ introduction of Fairy-type Pokémon and Mega Evolution. Laverre City and Gym Leader Valerie helped establish Fairy types as a major addition to the series, while the Tower of Mastery served as the setting for the first major Mega Evolution encounter when Korrina gave the player a Mega Ring and challenged them with Lucario. Lumiose City’s Prism Tower is also highlighted for its importance across the anime, games and TCG, including major confrontations involving Team Flare, while the Battle Chateau represents Kalos’ fascination with nobility and battling, allowing players to rise from Baron or Baroness to Grand Duke or Grand Duchess by winning battles. The retrospective also acknowledges Kalos’ broader impact on the Pokémon franchise, including its continued prominence in Pokémon Legends: Z-A and the modern Mega Evolution era.
