Nintendo has announced the Mario Kart World Open September 2026, a qualifying event for the Mario Kart World Fall Cup 2026 that will be held exclusively for North American players in December. The online qualifier runs from Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. PT through Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. PT in Mario Kart World on Nintendo Switch 2, with eligible participants from North and South America able to earn 50 My Nintendo Platinum Points for taking part. The event uses VS Race mode with 150cc, no teams, normal items, no CPU racers, connected course selection, a maximum of 32 races and a 30-second interval. Players can enter by selecting Online Play, pressing the minus button to search for an event and entering Event ID 7943. Participation requires a Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World, a Nintendo Account, an internet connection and a Nintendo Switch Online membership, while the Platinum Points are expected to become available through the My Nintendo Missions page around Sept. 29. The event will serve as one of the qualifying opportunities for the Mario Kart World Fall Cup 2026, with the top 24 players from a qualifying event advancing to the championship and competing for NintendoVS-themed prizes.
