Pokémon GO’s Mega Squads event will introduce Maschiff and Mabosstiff to the game for the first time, with Maschiff available through Eggs, Field Research and the GO Pass before evolving into Mabosstiff with 50 Maschiff Candy. The event runs from Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. through Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. local time and also marks the Pokémon GO debut of Shiny Flamigo, while Shiny Pidgey and Shiny Carvanha will have increased encounter rates during separate portions of the event. Mega Beedrill and Mega Houndoom will gain access to the new Super Max Mega Level, allowing them to learn additional Charged Attacks while Mega Evolved: Mega Beedrill can use Fell Stinger+ and Mega Houndoom can use Dark Pulse+. Trainers must first raise a Pokémon to the Max Mega Level before reaching Super Max, with Mega Energy earned through Mega Raids and encounters with featured Pokémon helping with the upgrade. Mega Beedrill will appear in Mega Raids from Sept. 8-15, followed by Mega Houndoom from Sept. 11-15, while the event GO Pass offers additional encounters, Mega Energy, Incubators and other rewards, with GO Pass Deluxe adding bonuses such as a Maschiff Jersey, Super Incubators and Rare Candy XL.
