The Mega Squads event is now live in Pokémon GO, bringing the debuts of Maschiff and Mabosstiff, the first-ever appearance of Shiny Flamigo and new Super Max Mega Levels for Mega Beedrill and Mega Houndoom. Running from Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. through Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. local time, the event lets players evolve Maschiff into Mabosstiff using 50 Maschiff Candy while hunting for Shiny Flamigo in the wild, Eggs, Field Research and GO Pass rewards. Shiny Pidgey has an increased encounter rate from Sept. 8 through Sept. 11, followed by boosted Shiny Carvanha encounters from Sept. 11 through Sept. 14. Mega Beedrill and Mega Houndoom can now reach the new Super Max Mega Level after first reaching Max, unlocking additional Charged Attacks that grow stronger as their Mega Levels increase, with Mega Beedrill gaining Fell Stinger+ and Mega Houndoom gaining Dark Pulse+. The event also features Mega Raids, event-themed Wild Encounters, 5 km Eggs, Field Research and the free GO Pass: Mega Squads, while GO Pass Deluxe offers additional rewards including Mega Energy, Super Incubators, Rare Candy XL and a Maschiff Jersey.
