The Water Festival 2018 event was recently announced and fully detailed for Pokémon GO. It is now officially underway until June 21 at 1 p.m. PDT. During the latest in-game event, players are encountering increased appearances of Water-type Pokémon like Magikarp and Wailmer, the Pokémon GO debut of Shiny Shellder, which naturally evolves into Shiny Cloyster. Also featured are Field Research tasks highlighting Water-type Pokémon, 3x Stardust for catching Water-type Pokémon, 2 km Eggs with Pokémon such as Totodile, Mudkip and Corphish, as well as Double Candy and Stardust for every Egg hatched. Raid Battles are also featuring powerful Water-type Pokémon for the duration of the celebration, including the return of the Legendary Pokémon Kyogre. In addition, if you challenge Kyogre during the event and come out victorious, there is a chance you’ll encounter its rare Shiny form for the first time.
Bonus Candy from the Water Festival can make it easier to evolve Magikarp and Wailmer into Gyarados and Wailord, respectively. Multiple new Raid Bosses are also available. Shellder, Magikarp, Omanyte, Wailmer are Level 1 Raid Bosses; Croconaw and Marshtomp are Level 2 Raid Bosses; Starmie, Vaporeon and Sharpedo are Level 3 Raid Bosses; Walrein is a Level 4 Raid Boss; and the Legendary Pokémon Kyogre is a Level 5 Raid Boss. Three new boxes are now available for purchase via the in-game store as well:
Pokémon GO developer Niantic has released an official AR screenshot for Lapras and is encouraging users to share their AR photos via social media.
