Team GO Rocket Stages Its Next Takeover in Pokémon GO
Complete a Special Research story to get a Super Rocket Radar and save Shadow Registeel from the clutches of Team GO Rocket.
Team GO Rocket is staging a dastardly takeover in Pokémon GO from February 1, 2023, at 12:00 a.m. to February 5, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. local time. Complete a new Special Research story to obtain a Super Rocket Radar, then defeat Giovanni and save Shadow Registeel. The Special Research story will be available to claim until the end of the Season on March 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
During the takeover, a Field Research task will be available that awards a Mysterious Component, so use this opportunity to snag lots of Mysterious Components, build Rocket Radars, and take on the Team GO Rocket Leaders!
Team GO Rocket Grunts will also be appearing more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons. But to successfully best these feisty fiends, you’ll need to retool your teams as they will be using an all-new roster of Shadow Pokémon, including Shadow Alolan Vulpix, Shadow Spoink, Shadow Blitzle, and Shadow Joltik.
This event also offers a rare opportunity to use a Charged TM to help Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.
As per usual, you will be able to obtain 12 km Eggs by besting Team GO Rocket Leaders. The following Pokémon will hatch from 12 km Eggs obtained during the event.

Shiny Helioptile, Shiny Tapu Koko Debut in Pokémon GO’s Crackling Voltage Event
The electricity is flying with Electric-type Pokémon in the spotlight.
Get powered up for Crackling Voltage, an electrifying Pokémon GO event running through February 5, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. local time. Shiny Helioptile and Shiny Tapu Koko will make their shocking Pokémon GO debuts, and the following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild throughout the event.

Things are about to get electric with the Crackling Voltage event! Electric-type Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild, and Trainers can look forward to the Legendary Pokémon Tapu Koko, a guardian deity of the Alola region, returning in Five-Star raids. Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to encounter Shiny Helioptile and Shiny Tapu Koko—if you’re lucky!
We have also received reports that Team GO Rocket might try to spark some trouble with new Shadow Pokémon soon. Stay alert, Trainers!

Wild encounters
The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild. Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to encounter Shiny Helioptile—if you’re lucky!
Raids
The following Pokémon will be appearing in raids. Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to encounter Shiny Tapu Koko—if you’re lucky!
Helioptile in these raids will have a greater chance of being a Shiny Pokémon than Helioptile found in the wild.
Eggs
The following Pokémon will hatch from 7 km Eggs.
Helioptile hatched from these Eggs will have a greater chance of being a Shiny Pokémon than Helioptile found in the wild.
Field Research task encounters

Save Shadow Registeel!
Giovanni’s iron will is strong as ever, and this time his plot includes using Shadow Registeel! A new Special Research story will be available at the beginning of this event. Progress through it to receive a Super Rocket Radar and chase down Giovanni!
The Special Research will be available to claim until the end of Season 9: Mythical Wishes on March 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Shadow Pokémon
Team GO Rocket Grunts—as well as their leaders Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo—are using different Shadow Pokémon. Help Spark, Blanche, and Candela overcome their adversaries and rescue the Shadow Pokémon!
In addition, Team GO Rocket has also turned the following Pokémon into Shadow Pokémon. Defeat Team GO Rocket Grunts to save them!
Eggs
The following Pokémon will hatch from 12 km Eggs.
The following Pokémon can currently only be hatched from 12 km Eggs: Sandile, Pawniard, Vullaby, Pancham, and Salandit. Trainers can earn 12 km Eggs by defeating Team GO Rocket leaders.
Field Research
A Field Research task awarding a Mysterious Component will be available.
