Pokémon Sun and Moon mark the first time a Grass-type starter was the most popular

Pokémon Sun and Moon officially mark the first time a Grass type was the most popular starter. Based on the results of a poll conducted by The Pokémon Company, 45 percent of players said they chose Rowlet for their Alolan adventure. About 30 percent chose the Fire-type Litten, while the remaining 25 percent went with the Water-type Popplio. More than 52,000 Pokémon fans participated in this particular poll.
