During a packed Nintendo Direct video presentation last month, Nintendo provided new details about previously announced upcoming games, including Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. The broadcast featured a first glimpse at what appeared to be an autosave feature. Autosave has since been confirmed by the folks at Game Informer. Although this addition is welcomed for the sake of automatically saving progress, a number of players are concerned that it will heavily impact their gameplay. For example, it might make Shiny hunting more difficult and resetting certain moments to attain desired results may no longer be possible. Game Informer has also confirmed the following:
- HMs will not be returning in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
- Throh will appear in the Galar region.
- EXP Share is automatic on all the Pokémon in your party and doesn’t require an item to be activated.
- It has yet to be revealed whether you can toggle EXP Share on or off.
- There are a total of 18 Gyms across the minor league and major league in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
