Blitzle and Shiny Blitzle now appearing more frequently during the Festival of Lights event in Pokémon GO

Niantic has announced a new event for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:

Team GO Rocket Flees from Pokémon GO’s Festival of Lights Event

Take advantage of special bonuses before the celebration ends!

Despite its best efforts, it seems that Team GO Rocket has failed to spoil Pokémon GO‘s Festival of Lights event with its shadowy designs. But while Giovanni’s villainous team is beginning to slowly withdraw its forces, you’ll still find Team GO Rocket members—and their Shadow Pokémon—appearing more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons. To mark this victory over darkness and to commemorate the conclusion of the Festival of Lights, you’ll find festive confetti on the map until the end of the event on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Until then, you can enjoy featured Pokémon encounters and special bonuses like Friendship levels that increase twice as fast, increased rewards from Gifts, and the ability to open up to 45 Gifts per day. You can also help Professor Willow learn more about the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa by finishing the Season of Mischief Special Research story. Keep an eye out for Dedenne, too—it’s making its Pokémon GO debut!

Enjoy the Festival of Lights finale, Trainers. Team GO Rocket didn’t stand a chance!

Team GO Rocket Brings Shadow Lugia to Pokémon GO’s Festival of Lights

Battle Giovanni’s and his team’s Shadow Pokémon to save the celebration, and keep an eye out for Shiny Vullaby.

It would seem that Pokémon GO‘s Festival of Lights celebration and Professor Willow’s research on the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa have attracted some unwanted attention. Starting Tuesday, November 9, 2021, Team GO Rocket will arrive to take over the event in an attempt to capture Hoopa. The villains are led by Giovanni, who’s ready to battle alongside his newest Shadow Pokémon, Shadow Lugia.

When Team GO Rocket’s takeover begins, you’ll find their members more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons. The Team GO Rocket Grunts and their leaders—Cliff, Sierra, and Arlo—might even be using different Shadow Pokémon than their usual to disrupt the festivities. During this event, you can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration. And if you’re lucky, you might even encounter a Shiny Shadow Pokémon.

As you take on Team GO Rocket, you can use the Super Rocket Radar from Special Research to encounter Giovanni himself. Defeat him, and you can rescue Shadow Lugia.

When you’re not dealing with Team GO Rocket trouble, be sure to check your Field Research Tasks, in which you’ll be able to encounter Vullaby. Plus, for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to find a Shiny Vullaby, if you’re lucky.

Will light defeat the shadow of Team GO Rocket? You can help see that it does by continuing to enjoy Pokémon GO’s Festival of Lights celebration, which concludes on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
