First-ever Pokémon GO Community Day challenges include posting AR photo of surfing Pikachu, sharing your location and grouping up with your Pokémon GO team

For the first Pokémon GO Community Day today, January 20, Trainers are able to catch a Pikachu that knows Surf. In addition, during Community Day hours, Lure Modules are lasting for three hours and other bonuses are being activated. This inaugural Community Day gives Trainers the chance to earn double XP during event hours. It has already concluded in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, India and Africa regions. But it is now taking place until 2 p.m. PST in the Americas and Greenland. To see a screenshot of one of the first surfing Shiny Pikachu caught during today’s event, click here. As part of the official Pokémon GO Community Day challenges, Niantic is asking players to perform actions such as posting an AR photo of surfing Pikachu, sharing their location and grouping up with their Pokémon GO team.
